As our community grows, so do the demands on our fire department. Benson & Hatfield support a responsible transition toward paid firefighter positions to ensure reliable staffing, faster response times, and stronger public safety.
A previous fire referendum caused confusion, not clarity—residents deserve transparent information and a clear plan before decisions are made.
We believe in a thoughtful five-year approach that balances fair pay for firefighters, necessary equipment, support for public works, and the impact of new development—while keeping taxpayers informed every step of the way.

We believe government should live within its means, focus on priorities, and be transparent about how taxpayer dollars are spent. A Lifetime of Service to Lumberton
Terrance Benson, a longtime Lumberton resident and former Corrections Officer, returned as Mayor in 2026 after previously serving in 2023, becoming only the second Black mayor in township history. He mentors at-risk youth, leads community cleanups, and advocates for responsible growth.
Kendra Hatfield, first elected in 2021, is known for her hard work, accessibility, and dedication to all residents. Together, they bring experienced, community-focused leadership to keep Lumberton safe, vibrant, and thriving.
