Building a Lumberton You Can Be Proud Of.

There’s Room for You.

Our Platform

Keeping Taxes Affordable

Families and small businesses in our community are already feeling the strain of rising costs—especially when it comes to school taxes.

Benson & Hatfield believe in keeping taxes affordable and opposing any new taxes.

We will work to protect taxpayers, demand accountability, and make sure government lives within its means so residents can keep more of what they earn.

Responsible Budgeting

Benson & Hatfield are committed to keeping the town budget flat while maintaining essential services and planning responsibly for the future.

We believe government should live within its means, focus on priorities, and be transparent about how taxpayer dollars are spent. By making careful, deliberate choices, we can protect residents from unnecessary financial strain while ensuring the town remains stable, efficient, and prepared for what’s ahead.

A Lifetime of Service to Lumberton

Terrance Benson, a longtime Lumberton resident and former Corrections Officer, returned as Mayor in 2026 after previously serving in 2023, becoming only the second Black mayor in township history. He mentors at-risk youth, leads community cleanups, and advocates for responsible growth.

Kendra Hatfield, first elected in 2019, is known for her hard work, accessibility, and dedication to all residents. Together, they bring experienced, community-focused leadership to keep Lumberton safe, vibrant, and thriving.
